Some dings on wood from field use. Scattered spots on bluing. Otherwise good condition. A portion of the metal is engraved. It has double set triggers, the back sets
the pull weight, the front is main trigger. Excellent trigger pull. The rifle has the buter knife bolt as like many of the rifles from Steyr had. I was told it was made in the
1930s. The previous owner was an extraordinary hunter. He traveled to Africa and Asia to hunt game. He used this specific rifle for hunting camp meat but also on occasion used it on kudu, impala, wart hog, zebra,etc. He did say he used it on a large elephant on a culling hunt shooting solids for a brain shot. Many old time
hunters used small bore rifles to hunt elephant for head shots as they could easily go through the brain of these creatures. This man was definitedly old school.
Normally he used double rifles for his hunts.
This rifle is a great investment and shooter. I have only shot it maybe 10 times in the several years I have owned it. Very accurate and well made. The craftsmanship
is excellent. It comes with 4 boxes of shells. They can be found online and at a reasonable price.
