Description: This is a full box, 20 un-headstamped rounds, of .45-75 Winchester "Centennial" 1876 ammunition manufactured by By Winchester for the Centennial Model 1876 rifle. The green and black square corner box has the outlined "20" and italicized "Cartridges" both unique features to the very first loading box in this caliber. The bottom portion does appear to have aged with this top and may have come from the factory mated together but does have what Giles & Shuey identify as the second type of reloading label with only three power types listed. The labels are intact and if not for some age darkening and slight flaking would be fully excellent with the top side showing a beautiful cartridge cut. The box is solid with edge and corner wear and the start of separation along with overall age soiling and staining. The cartridges all appear to be period correct and are in excellent condition but may not have been native to this box or perhaps some spent time in a cartridge belt as they show slightly different age darkening on some cases and some bullet heads. A rare, full, first type box that is not often encountered. SOLD |
