Description:
An Early U.S. Mexican War and Civil War Percussion Ames Model 1842 Navy Pistol In Very Good Untouched Condition. Only about 2,000 made from 1842- 1847, all original and complete. The pistol has nice metal, markings, and edges. It is marked at the rear of the lock "USN/1844", and in the center,"N.P. Ames/Springfield/Mass". The barrel is marked on the top, "USN/1844/NPW/PA". All of the metal on the revolver has an untouched light natural patina throughout it. All the brass is nice and untouched. All the screws are original and very good. The wood is very good throughout showing light wear in spots. There are two U.S. Inspectors Cartouches on the backside opposite the lock. It has a very good, tight action and a good bore in it. This Is A Very Nice Untouched Example Of A Civil War Percussion Ames Model 1842 Navy Pistol. It Would Be A great Addition to Any Civil War Or Navy Collection!
