This is not my project. Someone attempted to make a M96/38 look like a M94 carbine. They cut the barrel down to the front sight, and did a decent job of it. There is a picture of the muzzle to see how the crown was cut. After that they cut up the nose cap to look like the flat M94 pattern without a bayonet lug. They also overstamped the floor plate, butt plate and bolt so it looks number matching. I haven't check under the handguard to see if it is number matching. The stock has very sharp cartouches. None of the metal or wood has been refinished. The bore is bright with strong rifling and no rust anywhere. Not sure what the guy was going for. All I can hope is the gun-karma punishes him for his trespasses. Nonetheless, it is a great shooting rifle with a sleek look in an awesome calibre. Plus, Swedish mausers of any kind have been getting pretty steep in price.
