About Us: I am not a dealer and I do not have an FFL. I am an old codger paring down my accumulation of guns - some collectable, some nostalgic, some good shooters and some just cool, or at least I thought so when I bought them. Please check out my other listings. Reasonable offers considered. If you're interested, let's talk. A signed FFL copy is required for all modern firearms, and shipment will be made through an FFL dealer. Thank you for your interest.

Description:
This Winchester Model 97 16 gauge gun features matching deluxe checkered walnut straight-grip buttstock and slide handle.   Specifications are as follows:

Date of manufacture:  1942
Barrel length:  28 inches
Choke:  Modified
Chamber:  2 3/4 inches
DAC:  1 7/8 inches
DAH:  2 1/8 inches
LOP:  13 1/4 inches

Metal finish is good with no pitting and moderate blue wear with slight oxidation at the carry point, and the bore is bright.  Wood finish is very good with no deep nicks, dents or scratches.  The butt plate appears to be a modern reproduction, and the fit of the butt stock to the receiver is uneven.  I believe this to be a modified Model 12 stock due to the fit and checkering.

I have no information on the history of this gun.  Given the serial number date, it is possible this was a parts cleanup gun at the beginning of WWII.  Or more likely, someone swapped the stock and slide handle in an effort to make this into a  trap or tournament model.  Either way, the gun presents well, and Model 97's in 16 gauge are hard to come by, especially with a modified choke.
