This rifle has a 24 inch octagon barrel chambered in 45 Govt. caliber with a bright shiny near excellent bore. Full length magazine tube. Original sights include a blade front and sporting rear. Barrel and mag tube are a brown/gray color with traces of blue in protected areas. Receiver is a brown/gray as well. Nice action. Walnut stocks are in nice condition with a little extra grain. A minor crack on the forearm just ahead of the receiver. Stock has a grafted piece at the toe. Most of these Model 1881's had 28 inch barrels and only 2,788 had 24 inch barrels. This rifle was made in 1883 which is also the first year the 24 inch barrel was offered. Comes complete with the Brophy Marlin book.
