Description:
Very good Cond. contract Civil War musket made in Springfield 1863-1864. This gun came out of an old West Va. collection and is 100% original and never been sanded or refinished.Walnut stock is solid with a dark aged tone. All steel parts are smooth without pitting with dark age stain patina. Maker markings and proof markings are sharp and clear and two cartooches on left flat. Rifled bore is verg good. Hammer holds half and full cock with strong mainspring. With some effort gun would clean to near bright but why remove 160 years of age.
