Ser# 271xx made 1903
Short Rifle was later catalogued as the "Saddle Rifle"
Beautiful checkered walnut stock and fore end, looks like possibly G&H, Sedgley, Niedner...or some other talented individual.
No maker markings visible inside or out on the wood.
G&H/Hoffman style sling studs, for Winchester Super Grade swivels.
Winchester Model 70 style steel buttplate, no pip/peak.
Smooth action, nice and clean inside.
Vibrant case colors on the lever, and gorgeous fine rust blue on the metalwork.
22" barrel has a very good bore: complete, very well defined rifling from front to back, with ever-so-mild roughness (corrosive ammo) and no pitting or red flags detected. We would rate the bore 80-85%
Banded front sight, Lyman rear tang sight.
