***SOLD*** Among the very finest looking Winchester Model 70 Target styles I have had or seen! In addition to its supreme 99% nearly new condition, this rifle has several unique and rare features including:
Scarce "transition era" production date between Pre and Post WWII guns (made for only 3 years from 1946-48) with a clover leaf receiver tang and the special "clam shell" safety lever. This one is S/N 86621 made in 1948.
Select grade walnut stock almost never seen on a target style, which has semi-fancy grain approaching 3x quality in the butt region and hardly a mark of any kind on it.
Very difficult to find 270 caliber, even scarcer than a 257 Roberts caliber in this target style!
T stamped trigger group. Correct factory scope blocks with dimples and crescents.
24" medium heavy barrel with a mint bore.
Superb condition throughout with only a few very light scratches/scuffs on the rear of receiver, likely the result of a previously mounted Lyman 48 WH receiver sight.
Mechanical functions are all working smoothly and properly.
A beautiful piece for your collection which would be nearly impossible to improve upon.
