Serial Number 189474 Bbl, 4" Cal, .31 Percussion Mfg, 1861. New York Address with Wm Ormsby statgecoach cylinder scene and full nickel finish. Varnished one piece walnut grips. Matching numbers including wedge.Very good overall condition, possible period renickeled, crisp action and markings. Manufactured in 1861. "B. MOSENMEIER MD ASS'T'SURGEON U.S.A." inscribed on the backstrap. Research shows a "Bernard/Berhard Mosenmeier" active as a physician in Cincinnati, Ohio in the 1860s and onward, with a widow's pension card from 1896, and other records listing him as an assistant surgeon with the 33rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment which saw action at Perriville, Stones River, Missionary Ridge, and other battles.
