Description:
1931 Colt New Service chambered in 45LC with a 5.5 inch barrel and factory oven blue finish. This is a very rare variation that is seldom seen or offered for sale. Per the included Colt archive letter it was targeted and furnished with checkered straps. Although not listed on the letter when working the action it is obviously factory tuned as it is very slick and has an extremely light trigger break. It was shipped to the city of Redland, California police headquarters. It was in a one gun shipment. This was most likely ordered for inter-agency police shooting competitions as they were generally restricted to fixed sights. This revolver remains in high condition. The original finish still retains a deep dark shine throughout. All of the leading edges are sharp and the grip straps are exceptional. As seen in the photos it only shows very light and superficial handling. Overall it rates 98%+. The action is crisp, the lock up is tight, and the bore is bright and shiny with strong lands and grooves. The grips are in very high condition with sharp checkers throughout.
