Description:
The last of the US Single shot martial pistol and one of the most common pistols of the Early Civil War. The Model 1842 with its 54 cal, smoothbore barrel, swivel ram rod and walnut one piece stock with brass mounts. Marked on lock "US I. N. Johnson" and dated at rear of lock 1854. Condition. Good overall with all markings and legends legible. Bore is dark and action operates properly. Stock remains full sized with some additional finish added. Hammer screw has been period replaced. Stock has a small chip on left side opposite lock and a shrinkage crack on underside. ANTIQUE
