Payment Types Accepted: Bank to bank wire transfer (preferred), or bank cashier's check only Description: ***SOLD*** Fine example of this hisorically significant Henry repeating rifle in 44 Rimfire. Civil War era production with S/N 2116 made in 1863. Very nice condition throughout showing a dark and consistent barrel blue and uncleaned, typically aged brass receiver. The wood has multiple light to moderate dings and areas of discoloration, but appears to be unsanded and retaining most of its original finish. Sights consist of a German silver front blade and "c" variation 900 yard rear ladder. The lower tang is stamped "W", indicating that this particular rifle was inspected by Oliver Winchester himself. The receiver has an additional factory dovetail milled into the top to accomodate rear sight position preference, which was discontinued after S/Ns beyond about 3100. 24" Octagon barrel with a very good bore showing strong rifling and an overall light frost, but no noteworthy discrepancies. Mechanics are smooth and crisp with no lever droop or any other noted issues. The early style, rounded heel brass crescent trap door buttplate houses a 4 piece wooden cleaning rod in excellent shape. There is an accompanying letter which documents much of this rifle's known history. Please add $100 for expedited and fully insured shipping from Alaska. SOLD Antique: Yes |
