Description:
This 1970 classic falling block rifle is a Sturm, Ruger & Co No. 1 chambered in .270 Winchester. It has a tang mounted safety selector, sling studs top and bottom, an original red Ruger emblem rubber recoil pad, a 26-inch barrel, a Ruger emblem steel pistol grip cap, and a diamond checkered forearm and pistol grip stock. The walnut wood grained butt stock on this rifle is exceptional. The tang safety and lever design make it a comfortable left- or right-handed shooter. The rifle is called a single shot, but its ejector makes it quick to reload. As the breechblock lowers, the ejector moves slightly to the rear to begin pulling a case from the chamber. As the block lowers enough to clear a path for a case, a spring gives the ejector a hard kick to boot the case out of the chamber. The ejector spring is positioned on the receiver extension below the barrel. It can be disconnected to allow the ejector to partially extract a case out of the chamber, so it can be removed by hand. The Ruger No. 1 is classic, beautiful, accurate, strong, simple, capable, collectible, and an American-made gun. The bluing is in very good condition, with some loss at the muzzle. The exquisitely wood grained butt stock is in very good to excellent condition, with a ding to the right side of the wood right above the trigger (see picture). The bore is bright and shiny with strong rifling intact. .270 Winchester
