Original French Modele 1822 "Charleville" Flintlock musket converted to percussion, dated 1836 probably imported for the Civil War. This is a very good example of a Model 1822 that is complete with sling swivels and original ramrod. The functioning lock is marked de Charleville. The unsanded full length stock is near excellent with cartouches and military markings. The full length rifled barrel has both front and rear sights and is dated 1836 at the breach and Cde 17.8 across from the nipple. The tang is marked M1822T. All metal parts have a smooth brown patina. The approximately 70 caliber bore appears good. It wood be hard to find a better example. Please feel free to contact me with questions.
