Description:
Very nice, original finish, Marlin Model 1893, 30-30, 26" octagon barrel, that was made in 1899. The rifle is set-up with its original rear sight, as well as a Lyman tang sight and a Lyman No. 5 combination front sight. The bore is good, but somewhat dark, with some erosion and corrosion, but showing strong rifling throughout. Attached is a photo of some targets shot at 50 yards using the barrel rear sight and 170 grain cast bullets. The receiver still shows generous amounts of case coloring,especially in protected areas. The wood to metal fit is excellent. Wood shows handling marks consistent with a 125 year old rifle.
I am the third owner of this rifle, having bought it from the widow of the second owner, the first owner having been that gentleman's father. So, for approximately 120 years this rifle had been in the same family.
The cost of the rifle is $1600, plus the actual shipping and insurance cost IF your FFL will accept shipment from a private seller with a copy of my driver's license. If your FFL requires that the firearm be shipped through aother FFL, there will be an additional $50 charge to cover the transfer fee that my FFL will charge.
