Description:
This is an excellent French Model 1866 Chassepot bayonet with matching serial number scabbard. The blade is in excellent condition from the French arsenal of St Etietnne in the year 1871. The unsharpened 22 5/8" blade is free of any imperfection with only minor scuffing from running in and out of the scabbard and virtually no oxidation. The guard is clearly stamped L21987 and the correct proof marks with only light oxidation. The handle is excellent and fully functional with more proof marks. The scabbard is in overall excellent condition with matching serial number and fine light oxidation not concentrated in one area.
