General Specs: Fox, Year 1923, 12 Gauge, 7lbs. 10oz., Chokes F/F, LOP 14 7/16", DAH 2 3/8", DAC 1 7/16"

Ansley H. Fox’s double guns have become the most desirable vintage American double guns on the planet.  There are a few 12ga. AE Grade Fox guns available to own so how do you choose which one to buy?  For investment and enjoyment of use, finding Fox guns that remain in high factory original condition, have been fully inspected, documented by experts, fully cleaned and carry a written 90-day mechanical warranty make the most sense for your hard-earned money.  This is what we have here in this Fox AE Grade 12ga., sn29057 built in Philadelphia PA in 1923.  This Fox has A RARE FACTORY ENGLISH STOCK (SEE FACTORY ORDER CARD IN THE PHOTO SPREAD), LOTS OF FACTORY ORIGINAL CONDITION, and shipped with 30” number 1 weight heavy barrels with mirror shiny bores.   PRESENTLY IT IS DIFFICULT TO FIND 2 ½” 12GA. SHELLS.  BECAUSE OF THIS, VFI GUNSMITHS HAVE CAREFULLY MEASURED THE BARREL WALL THICKNESS AHEAD OF THE CHAMBER AND HAVE LENGTHENED THE CHAMBERS TO 2 ¾” AND EXTENDED THE FORCING CONES TO 1 ½” TAPERS SO THAT YOU CAN SHOOT MODERN 2 ¾” HEAVY FIELD LOADS THROUGH THIS GUN.  This is a $360 service in our shop.  The action retains 65% factory case color, engraving still sharp, with excellent screws and mechanics, barrels tight as new on hinge and breech face, all in superb working order.  The barrels retain 98% of the factory blue, and the stock has been freshened (not restored) by VFI with a hand-rubbed oil finish that still has a few field marks evident.  The checkering is superb, as is the wood to metal fit.  This is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, meaning we stripped the action and forend iron to the smallest part, cleaned all in the Ultrasonic cleaner, scrubbed each part and inspected all for function and integrity, properly lubricated and reassembled.  VFI CERTIFIED guns have a 90-day mechanical warranty (a $375 service in our shop).  THIS IS THE KIND OF GUN THAT WATERFOWLERS, TURKEY HUNTERS, WILD PHEASANT HUNTERS, DOVE AND PIGOEN SHOOTERS, AND SPORTING CLAYS FANS SEEK OUT FOR THEIR SPORT.  Weighing 7 pounds 10 ounces and weighted just forward of the hinge pin, it will prove deadly in the field or on the range.  With all the vintage sporting clays shoots popping up across the country, this is a great Fox to show off at the club.  You deserve a fine A.H. Fox for this year’s hunting season, so don’t hesitate.  Plus, what a great Christmas gift this would make for you or a loved one!  This fine Fox A Grade has it all with great stock dimensions (see specs below), perfect mechanics, and notable good looks!  THERE IS NOTHING TO BE DONE WITH THIS GUN BUT GO OUT AND USE IT.  IT IS READY FOR ANOTHER CENTURY OF USE.  This is a gun you can use and enjoy, and it will continue to gain value.  Only 10% of Fox guns had an English stock, so don’t hesitate if this is your “jam”.  Thanks for looking!

We employ full time gunsmiths on premises and can perform alterations to suit your needs within a few weeks of purchase. Common requests are: -stock bending to suit your particular requirements -addition of any specified butt pad to increase length of pull -alteration of chokes to suit your shooting preferences -lengthening of chambers and forcing cones -darkening stock color with penetrating stains -restoring any part of the gun including rust blue, charcoal blue, bone and charcoal case color, wood restoration and checkering recuts. If you like one our guns but it needs "tweaked", let us know and we can quote you a time and price. Some enthusiasts like the guns "as found" and others want them "just so". We often list guns as found and let the particular buyer choose how they want their gun to fit or look.
