SALE PENDING--to William.

FURTHER UPDATE  4/15/2024:
A gentleman called and wanted some information on the blank.  Both of the ends were "waxed" years ago and still have the original wax on the ends.  I believe that this was done for the purchase of keeping some moisture in the wood, so that the blank would not dry out too quickly.  But, I would estiamte this blank to be at least 85 years old, probably older.

AND: I have located another stamp (very faint) on the same side of the blank as the the other stamp.  You can faintly make out some of letters and then 5 tiny stars stamped in there as well.  From what I understand, this was to autthenticate the validity of this being a genuine blank of Teyssier wood.

Up for sale is an original Teyssier Stock blank, circa 1930's or early 1940's.

It is an outstanding blank of wood.  There is just the one blank.

Teyssier Wood was used on only the best guns of the early 20th Century.  Gun makers such as Purdey, Holland & Holland, Boss, R.G Owen, Griffin & Howe, Hoffman Arms, etc. all would utilize this wood in building their finest guns.
After the destruction and devistation of WWII, the wood was no longer availlable.  Some wood had been harvested before WWII, however, and was eventually located in barns and warehouses in Europe.

This is from the J. Earl Bridges collection, and the Tessyier Wood that was acquired by him and subsequently sold over the years is a thing of the best.  It is long gone.  Michael Ullman (who initially worked for Bridges and himself a stockmaker) took all of his remaining inventory.  I purchased this from Michael and told him I wanted the best blank he had.  This is the blank he sold me, due to the mineral lines and color of the wood.

The blank is plenty wide, and a good stock man (after looking at the grain flow at the top and the bottom) could position the wood to get the maximum degree of figure in the cutting of the blank

Please note that some of the pictures were taken with a high flash and others with a lower flash.  The Teyssier stamp did not come out all that well in the pictures, but it is there.  You would want (I would think) in using this blank to cut out the stamp very carefully and save it for the completed project.

The tapes indicate the length and height of the blank.  Just to be certain, however, the blank is about 2 5/16" wide at the butt, and 2 3/8" wide at the end of the forearm.  The overall length (as shown) is about 19 1/2" on the right hand side.  (There is a small chip out at the end).  The left hand side is 20 1/4."

The height of the blank (at the rear) is 6 7/8."

The height of the blank at the front is 4 1/2".

There are no more of these anywhere in the world.  Good Luck.

Call or email if you have any questions.

Thank you.

Some of the pictures have painter's tape outlining the area of the wood you might want to use for the butt and the forearm sections.
