Payment Types Accepted: Bank to bank wire transfer (preferred), or bank cashier's check only Description: ***SOLD*** Among the best of the best! Here's a highly coveted, outstanding and rare early production Model 70 chambered in the powerhouse 375 Magnum (375 H&H). 4 digit S/N 4622 with matching scribed bolt made in 1937! It wears the rare 24" medium heavy straight taper barrel which was only available during this first year of public offering, soon to be replaced by the 25" C-1 profile barrel in 1938. This rifle was made during the supreme era of Model 70 production, representing the very finest components and precision craftsmanship throughout. All Pre 64 Model 70s are a marvel to behold, but these early Pre War guns take it to another level: Beautiful honey colored and tight grained woods, silky rust blued barrels and polished carbonum blued receivers are some of the typical features, along with butter smooth and ultra crisp mechanics. This rifle has all of that and more. Superb condition for its 87 years showing 98% original Blue and Varnish with only scattered light handling marks. Barrel channel is like new. Bore and mechanics are flawless. Factory issued recoil pad as on all 375s which remains supple. There is the usual factory inletted and installed Lyman 48 long slide receiver sight which has all correct and matching component numbers, original aperture disc, and works perfectly. There are also standard factory drilled holes in the front receiver ring and in the barrel for scope blocks of the day. The matted rear receiver bridge remains UNDRILLED as it should be. After 112 years, the 375 H&H Magnum continues to reign above all other magnums in popularity and practicality for those who deal with dangerous game, and is the parent case for most that followed. It is what I have used very effectively for nearly 40 years of guiding Grizzly hunters here in Alaska, and continues to be the favorite of a majority of African game cullers. This is an exceedingly scarce, unaltered and high condition rifle which would be very difficult to upgrade. Please add $100 for expedited and fully insured shipping from Alaska.
