Rare DANISH Model 1772 Flintlock CAVALRY Pistol
Unit Marked on the Left Side of the Barrel!
Here we present an antique Danish Model 1772 Flintlock Heavy Cavalry Pistol, made circa the 1770s. This pistol would have been in service concurrent to the American Revolutionary War as well as the Napoleonic Wars. Like the cavalry pistols from other nations such as Britain and France, this was a large, single shot pistol with a brass pommel that could be used as a club when the single shot was expended. This one is unit marked in the steel of the barrel and reads “Sk C N 45”. The number 45 is repeated throughout. There is a small proof mark on the left side of the barrel where it meets the wooden stock.
The overall condition is very good. The iron and brass surfaces have a nice aged patina. The markings are clear. The stock is smooth and solid with the handling you would expect from a weapon that fought in and survived the Napoleonic Wars. The bore is in very good shape, smooth and dusty. The action is functional. Here is a fantastic, scarce and historical Danish Cavalry Pistol from one of the most pivotal times in European history!
