Description:
***SOLD*** Highly desirable and very scarce antique Winchester 1895 early flat side rifle in 38-72 caliber.
S/N 2310 made in 1896.
A hard to find, great and solid example showing some honest and even wear throughout, but no refinish, deep gouges, alterations , nor cracks anywhere.
At some point, this rifle was sold from William F. Sheard's Tacoma, WA gunsmithing/sporting goods store and the top of barrel is so stamped.
Mr. Sheard was the originator of the supreme quality and highly popular Sheard front sights, the rights to which were later sold out to the Marble Gunsight Co.
This fine rifle features a 26" full octagon barrel with an excellent shiny bore, along with a steel crescent buttplate.
The sights consist of a special Lyman #7 Windgauge target front, (windage adjustable) and a standard sporting rear.
All mechanical functions appear to be smooth, crisp and working properly.
Comes complete with a Cody Museum letter of provenance.
Good "flat sides" don't come along very often, and this is a good one.
Please add $100 for expedited and fully insured shipping from Alaska.
