Too many guns in my safe, at my age, so I am thining my collection.
I am offering a truely top quality, custom built, classic .270 Winchester built on a 1909 DWM Mauser. I have been told it was built by Phil Fisher. It is similar to a Goens stock. The 1909 action is considered, by most, to be the best of the military Mausers.
The action was totally reworked. It was surface ground, polished inside and out. Bolt handle has been changed and checkered. Bolt shroud safety was converted to Model 70 style. A new custom straddle floorplate trigger guard, with bow release has been added (floorplate cost $600.00). Bolt release has been streramlined and checkered on the front surface. The serial number, model number, and caliber are hand engraved on the metal, which is quality blued (looks like rust blue). The custom 24 inch barrel is of unknown make. Fisher style steel grip cap. Quick detachable swivel studs. Solid black rubber Pachmayer butt pad. Timney trigger added. Very fine Fleur de Lis patern checkering with ribbons on the grip and wrap around on the forend. European walnut is well figured with black streaks.
