American Market Pre-WORLD WAR I Pistol w/HOLSTER
Here we present a Pre-World War I Model 1906 American Eagle Luger Pistol, made circa 1908 by DWM (Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken) in Berlin, Germany. The reason it is called the “American Eagle” is because DMW stamped an American eagle emblem on top of the receiver near the breach. This was the company’s attempt to boost popularity in the U.S. civilian market.
There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end. The Luger is certainly one of the most iconic firearms in history, made so by its association with Germany during both World Wars. The top of the toggle is marked “DWM” with the “American Eagle” crest. The “Crown over N” proof mark is a German pre-World War II proof used before April 1, 1940.
The overall condition is good. The action is strong. The bore is in good condition, clean with strong rifling. The grips have been replaced with heavily shaped around the magazine release and hand-checkered. Numbers match on the barrel, frame, side plate, trigger, toggle. The holster is in good condition.
