GERMAN Mid-1800s DEAR and FLORAL SCROLL ENGRAVING
Here we present an antique A. Rehbichler Germanic Percussion Target/Sporting Rifle, made in Munich, Germany circa the early to mid-19th century. This would have been very handy to carry and load for the forester or hunter while hunting in the 1850s is Germany. This would have been the epitome of a German target rifle that would have also been used to put food on the table or protect the homestead from unwanted intruders, including both man and beast.
The overall condition is good. The trigger drops the hammer, but the set trigger does not fully function. The wooden trigger guard is fully intact! Good bore for its age. This example sports a solid stock with a light refinish. A toe repair has been made and remains stable. A thin crack is found on the left stock flat but sits stable and does not impede any function. Legible markings. The forend tip inlay is broken and missing.
