Made in 1948
28 inch solid rib barrel with FULL choke and deluxe double diamond 9.5 inch forearm
Matching 28 inch solid rib barrel with Skeet choke and deluxe double diamond 9.5 inch forearm
Full choked barrel has a 3 inch chamber
Skeet choked barrel has the less common 2 ½” chamber
Winchester buttplate
Metal grip cap with name of the original owner, possibly gold plated
Fancy deluxe checkered walnut pistol grip stock.

All original condition, the wood shows some minor handling, and the blue is very good. The bolt and the loading gate still have their jeweling too, although it does show age appropriate wear.
Comes with its original Kerr’s of Beverly Hills case and provenance, as the owners name is on the grip cap plate and again on the outside of the leather case. The case contains a three-piece wooden cleaning rod with its tips for cleaning the gun. The case is in very good condition inside with a couple minor wear marks from the barrels. Its corners on the outside are intact and the leather is nice, even though it has an oil stain. The case still has its keys too!
It was easy to look up the Mattei family on the internet. I found they immigrated from Switzerland in the year 1871. A copy of the Mattei family history as published by Walter Tomplins in 1974, will be provided. The Mattei Tavern figures prominently in the history. Additional Research showed that their son Albert (Bert) Mattei was an owner of two oil companies. He was also a lifelong fishing crony of President Herbert Hoover. Later in life Bert Mattei would be instrumental in encouraging and supporting the political rise of President Richard Milhouse Nixon. Bert Mattei passed in 1969.
