Description:
This Baker Elite Model Single Barrel Trap was manufactured by the Baker Gun Company and remains in very good overall condition. The Baker Gun & Forging Company was founded by Elias Baker in the early 1890's and was the first American gun manufacturer to make a single barrel trap gun. This Baker Elite was manufactured somewhere between 1909 and 1923. This is a boxlock action with a cylindrical bolt that protrudes from breech to lock the receiver. Ejector spring is sluggish. The single barrel trap was produced in three grades with the "Elite" being in the middle. Wood is solid and has very few handling marks, however fine checkering is very worn from use. Bottom of forend has a medallion inletted that says "Hartford Gun Club - Charter Oak". This club was established in 1884 in East Granby Conn. and is the oldest Gun Club in America. Metal is very good with original blue and very little oxidation. Matte Vent Rib has round pillars and white front and mid-bead. Blue has several areas that are worn from use but remain excellent. Gun is beautifully hand engraved. Bore is excellent. This is a unique shotgun with an interesting history that still has plenty of life left in it. 12 Gauge
