SN: 3154270. This rifle was originally made in August 1944 during World War II by Springfield Armory but then its factory parts configuration was changed by a post-war arsenal rebuild. Subsequent to that it was converted to the M1 ""tanker"" configuration by a civilian gunsmith after its military service. As that is the case, the rifle's March 1951-dated barrel has been shortened to 18-inch length, but it is still chambered for the .30-06 cartridge. As a part of the ""tanker"" conversion, the front handguard & the operating rod have also been shortened. The gun is equipped with the T105E1 adjustable rear sight assembly, a stamped trigger guard made by Winchester & a Springfield bolt. The bore is bright with rifling that is visible although faint, & the stock is very good with light handling wear. Action is smooth & functions correctly.
