9 MM. SN: 1263 h. Second variation pistol w/ reinforcing hump at trigger pivot and shallow extractor cut. 4 ?” bbl. Right side of slide stamped w/ two eagle/135 proofs flanking an eagle/swastika military test proof. Matching serial number on frame, slide and barrel. Eagle/135 proofs also located on the left side of the frame and barrel lug. Brown bakelite grips. Proper magazines have eagle/359 proofed high on the spine and "P.38v" on left body. CONDITION: Excellent. Retains 90-95% original blue finish showing light edge and muzzle wear, with some thinning on the front grip frame strap. Crisp markings. Mechanically fine with bright strong bore. Accompanied by a very rare LEDERFABRIK NEUNER black hardshell holster w/ “9 in Oakleaf” /1943 logo, WaA 938 waffenamt and matching spare magazine. Inside flap is inscribed with G.I.’s name and postwar stateside address. Holster is excellent with only minor rubs at edges. Stitching is intact and sound. Unmarked black leather belt (approx 102 cm) mounted w/ later pattern, unmarked, steel box construction Luftwaffe NCO-EM buckle w/soldered hooking bar is Very Good. PROVENANCE: Capture Certificate identifies T/5 Russell D. Smoot (610 Ordnance Battalion / 3160 Co) in possession of: German P38 Ser. #1263(4); P38 Holster and clip; Belt Buckle (German). Signed: Capt. James D. Brewer (3160 OBA & FMC Co). Fresh Estate Items have been in possession of direct descendants until their offering here.
