ENGRAVED Mid-1800s W. FIELD Antique 16 Gauge Shotgun PERCUSSION
19th Century Back Action FOWLING Piece
Here we present an antique W. Field Fowling Piece, made circa the mid-19th Century. This piece has a 32” 16 gauge single barrel. The top of the barrel has an inlaid hunting scene with a dog and birds and a similar scene on the lock. This would have been a very common weapon in most homesteads in 19th Century America for small game and bird hunting as well as defense.
The overall condition is good. Nice patina. The action is excellent. The hammer spur has been repaired. The bore in in good condition and smooth. The stock has a stable split that goes from the lock screw on the left stock down toward the trigger.
