Description:
Rare 1893 Marlin Factory Engraved / Deluxe Rifle in 32-40. Case colored action with No. 1 factory engraving. Left side of receiver features a circular vignette of a whitetail buck surrounded by fancy borders & highlights of Arabesque scroll. Right side of receiver has fancy borders surrounding Arabesque scroll with a sunburst behind the loading gate. Complimenting scroll continues to the lower receiver, lever & bolsters. Breech block has a series of rolling single line spiral cuts with leaf type highlights. Matching spirals are found along upper surfaces of receiver & top tang. Top of receiver has the "Marlin Safety" trademark. Top tang marked "MODEL / 1893". Although not signed the engraving appears to be the work of Conrad Friedrich Ulrich Jr (1844-1925). Conrad Ulrich did almost all of the Marlin engraving from 1881 to 1910. Bbl. 26" octagon. Beaches combination front sight, rear Lyman Tang Sight and filler blank in rear sight dovetail. Octagon barrel full magazine tube retain 80-85% original blue. Very nice bore, I will an 8 on a scale from 1-10. Receiver retains 70-75% of its original case colors. Both forend and buttstock are in good condition showing normal handling marks. Factory letter is on order and will be included in the sale. Letter states 26" barrel, 32-40, pistol grip, checkered, and extra fancy wood. Here is a chance to own a very nice original factory engraved Marlin Rifle that stills has some nice condition.
