Description:
Serial #388913, 16 Gauge (2 ½" chambers), 27 5/8" barrels with mostly bright bores showing isolated frosted areas choked modified and full. This is the "American Gun Company" Double hammer shotgun with New York address manufactured by H&D Folsom from 1905-1923. In very fine condition the armory steel barrels ring true and have a pleasing mottled blue finish with scattered freckling with the frame showing generous amounts of vibrant case color especially on the lockplates with about 80-85% remaining and the balance a pewter grey. The walnut round knob pistol grip stock and forearm are solid and in excellent condition with crisp, re-cut checkering and a later added varnish. The lock up is tight with the barrels ever so slightly off face and the lever rests just left of center. The hammers cock properly and have a crisp trigger pull. The LOP is 14" with drops of 2" and 3" at the comb and heel respectively. A beautiful American Gun Company hammer double in high condition that would be a pleasure to shoot at a vintage competition or take hunting this fall. FFL or C&R;
