Marlin’s First Smokeless Powder Rifle
Here we present an antique J.M. Marlin Model 1893 Rifle in .38-55 WCF, made circa 1894 in New Haven, Connecticut. Marlin Firearms was founded in the 1870s by John Marlin and was one of Winchester’s biggest competitors for the lever action market in the late-19th and into the 20th Century. The Model 1893 represents Marlin’s first smokeless powder lever action rifle. It features a solid top frame with side ejection and a smooth action. This one has an octagonal barrel and a crescent butt plate and it chambers a great old cartridge.
The overall condition is very good. Gray patina throughout with some silvered case colors on the receiver. The action is excellent and the bore is in great shape: bright with sharp rifling. The walnut stock shows use and remains solid.
