Description:
Antique Civil war era 1862 dated Tower percussion musket. This was originally a 3 band rifled musket which was shortened to a barrel length of 28 inches and one band, to carbine length of 48 inches. The 28 inch barrel is approximately 60 caliber, is smooth bore and has proof marks and 25 25 on the breach. The only lock markings are 1862 over tower and a crown on the tail of the lock (I understand this could indicate a confederate purchase). The lock functions on both clicks. The tacks appear modern.
