Description:
SALE PENDING TOM.
John Robertson 16 gauge Shotgun.
Serial number 8523.  These rare shotguns were produced by Boss, Inc., in the 1930s, with this gun built in the latter part of the decade.  16 gauge Robertson guns are particularly scarce.  Boss, builder of "Best Guns Only", in deciding to offer a boxlock gun, named their offering after their great owner and inventor/gunmaker, John Robertson.  References to Boss Robertson guns are found in Terry Weiland's book, Vintage British Shotguns, and the Donald Dallas Book, Boss and Co., Makers of Best Guns Only.  These guns were the finest boxlocks available in the marketplace in their era.  This gun is all original, with the exception of current barrel choking and new recoil pad (note: the hardened red pad shown in pictures 1 and 2 has been replaced by the black pad shown in picture 12).

This gun comes equipped with original 28 inch barrels, straight English style stock, boxlock action, splinter fore-end, and manufacturers original case.  Barrel dimensions are:  Bores - .664 R .664 L, MWT - .028 R .030 L, Chokes .004 R .010 L.  Stock dimensions are :LOP - 14 3/4, DAC - 1 1/2, DAH 2 1/8, Cast (on) 1/8.    LOP measurement to end of wood is 14 3/8.  Barrels are London-proved at 16 (.662), 1 ounce load for 2 1/2 inch chambers with 1925 - 1954 series London Proof House marks, and remain well in proof.  Gun weight is 6 pounds even.  Concave game rib.  Of note is the top rib inscription which lists the Boss Albemarle Street address for the John Robertson guns, John Robertson, 41 Albemarle Street, London, the same address noted inside the case for Boss & Co.

An opportunity to enjoy one of the finest original 16 gauge English guns available.  Shipping via FFL  to CONUS state-approved FFL address only for the fixed rate of $100.  Photo zip file or specific photos available via email to interest parties.  One mixed case of 2 1/2 inch shells available to gun buyer.  Willing to discuss reasonable offers.  Thank you for your consideration.
