Description:
Smith & Wesson .38 MILITARY & POLICE Model of 1905 .38 SPECIAL Revolver C&R

BEAUTIFUL Double Action 3rd Change Revolver

Here we present a C&R Smith & Wesson .38 Military & Police Model of 1905 Double Action Revolver manufactured circa 1912 in Springfield, Massachusetts, with a production run between 1909 to 1915 with a total production of 94,803. This revolver is the third of Smith & Wesson's .38 Hand Ejector models. Later models in this series include the .38 Military & Police Victory Model and the S&W Model 10. The Model 1905, as with the other .38 Hand Ejector models, is a six-shot revolver built on the Smith and Wesson K frame, with a swing-out cylinder chambered in .38 Special.
In 1899, the United States Army and Navy placed an order with Smith & Wesson for two to three thousand Model 1899 Hand Ejector revolvers chambered for the .38 Long Colt U.S. Service Cartridge. With this order, the Hand Ejector Model became known as the .38 Military and Police model. That same year, in response to reports from military sources serving in the Philippines on the relative ineffectiveness of the new cartridge, Smith & Wesson began making the Military & Police in a new chambering, the 38 S&W Special (a.k.a. .38 Special), a slightly elongated version of the .38 Long Colt cartridge with greater bullet weight and powder. This change was implemented after the first 1000 had been produced. This revolver was manufactured after the first 1000 that were made in the original .38 Long Colt chambering.

The overall condition is fine. Original blue and case color finish. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The grips is in great shape. Numbers match.
