Payment Types Accepted: Check, Money Order Description: This is a U.S. Model 1847 Cavalry Musketoon produced by the Springfield Armory. It is in VG-VG+ condition. This carbine model was basically a shortened version of the Springfield Model 1842 standard infantry musket. It's a beautiful gun with high-grade manufacture. All steel parts were originally polished bright, and the furniture is original brass. It has a .69 caliber round barrel, with a button-head captive ramrod attached to the barrel with a swivel mechanism. All parts of this gun work properly and the mechanics are tight, including all cocking positions. The wood is in VG condition, with some very small, shallow, and fairly uniform punch holes on the right stock (see photo). Inspector cartouche is sharp and clear. The lock and barrel markings are sharp, with a strong VP and Eagle on the barrel and crisp "Springfield 1853" on the lockplate. This is an excellent example of this model. It has been in my collection for 25 years and is priced to sell. SOLD Antique: Yes Rifle Caliber: .69 |
