MOTHER OF PEARL, GOLD MEDALLION, ENGRAVED
Here we present a rare Hopkins & Allen Vest Pocket Pistol, also known as the Parrot’s Beak, made circa 1911 in Norwich, Connecticut. Under 1,400 were made. This was a niche weapon for its day, being a tiny single shot pistol in double action only. It was also a very ornate piece with some nice engraving and mother of pearl grips were standard with the gold medallion with the company’s initials. Rather than a mechanical extractor, the breech-end of the barrel simply tapers so one can use his fingers to grip the rim of the shell and pull out. A very 1860s style pistol made in the same year the US adopted John Moses Browning’s Model 1911!
The overall condition is fine. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with good rifling. The solid mother of pearl grips are in great shape and the right panel has the gold trademarked medallion.
