In 1938, Hitler’s Germany formally occupied the northern and western sections of Czechoslovakia encompassing the Czech border defenses in these areas. The occupation grew from there into 1939 until all of Czechoslovakia was partitioned and basically ceased to exist. The German occupation would last until the final days of World War II in 1945 when they were liberated by the Soviet Union. During the time of the German occupation, Czech military factories fell under the control of the invading power. This included the Ceska Zbrojovka facilities where this pistol was produced. As with other quality, useful, foreign originated military goods falling under the control of the Germans, the vz. 27 was adopted by the German Army service to shore up weak stocks of weapons. The vz. 27 proved its worth through general reliability, ease of handling, and most importantly, ease of production. This led to large stocks of pistols being produced directly for German use. The Model 27 was adopted by the Third Reich upon their seizure of ?eská zbrojovka after their invasion and occupation in 1939. Many of these semi-automatic, .32 ACP/7.65mm blowback pistols were manufactured until the end of the war, becoming somewhat less finished toward the end in an attempt to save on cost, time and resources. The machining marks grew more visible, and the blue applied to the earlier guns was changed to a phosphate finish. Many of these were put in the hands of officers and police during World War II. This specimen is marked “Pistole Modell 27/Kal.7.65” on the left side of the slide and the “WaA76” Third Reich German acceptance mark. The overall condition is good. Excellent action. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Solid grip contains low handling wear. This example has been nicely refinished. Visible numbers match. German Eagle proofed.
