Description:
General Specs: Winchester, Year 1926, .38WCF, 5lbs. 14oz., LOP 12 7/8"
Serial Number: 970263
The Winchester Model 1892 is John Browning’s design that closely mirrored the venerable 1886 action but for the smaller handgun calibers that were made popular by Winchester.  Initially made in.32 W.C.F (.32-20), .38 W.C.F. (.38-40), and .44 W.C.F (.44-40), Winchester also added the .25 W.C.F. (.25-20) to the Model 1892 list of calibers in 1895.  The genius of the Model 1892 in the frontier/cowboy days was you could own a Colt Single Action Army revolver in one of the above calibers and have your rifle/carbine and handgun chamber the same ammunition and not have to carry different ammo for both.  Even in today’s world shooters who own an 1892 often purchase a Colt to go along with it.  This fine Winchester Model 92 Saddle Ring Carbine (SRC), sn970263 built in 1926, is chambered for the .38-40 (.38 Winchester Centerfire) cartridge, a necked down version of the .44-40.  The SRC is an amazing, little, fast-handling Winchester lever gun that fed 10 rounds of ammunition through its magazine tube, affording serious fire power when things got serious, or just tons of fun when out shooting.  Most of the M92 SRC Winchesters you see are either well worn from a century of use, have pitted bores from lack of care, have been restored (usually poorly), or altered negatively along the way.  THIS LITTLE CARBINE IS IN WONDERFUL, FACTORY ORIGINAL, UNTOUCHED CONDITION, INCLUDING THE WOOD FINISH, AND HAS AN EXCELLENT SHINY BORE (A SOLID 9 ON A SCALE OF 10), PERFECT SCREWS AND MECHANICS, MAKING IT A TRUE COLLECTIBLE, INVESTMENT QUALITY WINCHESTER THAT CAN STILL BE USED TODAY FOR GAME OR PLINKING.  Ammunition is readily available.  Examine the photos and you will see an exceptional carbine, with 98% factory blue on the barrel, 95% on the mag tube, 65% blue on the action, and 80% blue on the lever and hammer.  Look at the wood finish…it has never been sanded or had finish added and retains 95% factory finish with perfect wood-to-metal fit.  There are no splits, big dents or dings, hand-carved initials, etc.  This is an awesome little Model 92 that weighs just 5 pounds 14 ounces…it seems so tiny!  It is hard to find a comparable in this condition, but we have priced this carbine to sell quickly, so don’t miss out on this opportunity.  Look closely at the photos…this is an exceptional example for your collection.  Thanks for looking!
