Manufactured in Middletown Conn by Henry Aston with 8 1/2" 54 Cal, smooth bore and percussion ignition. One piece walnut stock with brass furniture and mounts. Swivel ram rod with lock dated 1842. These late martial pistol were used extensively at the onset of hostilities of the Civil War by State Militias. Condition, Very good overall with the metal being a mixture of bright and mellow patina. The stock is solid, full sized and with out material losses. Stock has bruises and impressions and 2 faint US Inspectors cartouches remain evident on left side. Action operates properly. Rammer is a contemporary replacement. ANTIQUE
