Description:
This is a Springfield Armory Model 1903 National Match rifle (NMA1) in 30-06 that was made at Springfield back in 1936. 24" barrel bore is mirror bright with deep rifling and no wear. It shows less than 1 on the bore gauge. DCM sales booklet lists this rifle by serial number so there is no doubt of the originality. The stock is marked S 6 in the mag cutoff recess. That means the stock was made in 1936 at Springfield which is perfect for the SA 4-36 barrel date. Star gauged barrel is correct too. Bolt and interior action are polished bright and the serial is on the bolt. This rifle is very little fired or used. Stock is lovely original finish but a previous owner added a bit of linseed oil to it as the US Army specifies to do. Some little bit slopped onto the metal as shown. Removes easily with gun solvent if you like. Parkerizing is original dark and blackish color as is correct for National Match rifles. Lyman 48 sight is original and pristine. The DCM Papers that come with the gun shown that this sight was original and correct for this gun. The stock has no drawing number on it. A bit of a mystery because the stock shows no sign of sanding. But the stock is original and correct for the rifle. This is a hard to find rifle in this near mint original condition.
