ENGRAVED 1700s Antique EUROPEAN FLINTLOCK 62 Caliber Martial Pistol Sidearm
200+ Year Old Fighting Pistol
Here we present an antique Flintlock Pistol, made circa the 18th Century, likely of European origin. This large bored pistol would have been intended for use as either a self-defense firearm or possibly carried into battle. It is a fairly large sized flintlock. Its barrel is a long 12-3/8 inches in length. This pistol has a .62 caliber bore and would have been most at home tucked into a gentleman’s belt or perhaps in a pommel holster of a saddle when not punching large holes. This also would have been the type of pistol an officer would have purchased on his own to bring to battle in case he was to come into contact with the enemy.
The overall condition is good. This is a pretty simple, solid pistol that looks like it was used quite a bit. The action remains strong and crisp. The bore is smooth and dim. The stock feels solid. There is an immobile crack on the top between the barrel tang and the tail of the lock. The wooden ramrod has snapped in two pieces.
