Description:
US model 1842, H Aston 54 caliber percussion pistol.  H Aston of Middteton, Conn. was a contractor who made this model for the US army.  I believe this model was the first percussion pistol made for the US army.  6000 were manufactured in 1851-1852.  It was also the last percussion pistol to see service.  It was a well designed, robust single shot horse pistol.  The functioning Lock is marked A Aston & co., US 1851 Middtn Conn..  the barrel length is 8:5 inches and overall length of 14.5 inches. The walnut stock is in very good condition.  The functioning lock and barrel are a grey brown color with scattered pitting.  The remaining parts are brass with a brown patina. The ram rod is missing and hammer screw.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions.  Shipping will be actual cost by insured usps
