Left Hand  We specialize in shotguns for the Clay Target Shooting Sports. I have been coaching youth Clay target athletes for over 13 years. In my time involved with the Youth Clay Target Shooting Sports one of the most common mistakes I see is choosing the wrong shotgun for little Johnny or Jenny. Often, parents will purchase a "so called youth shotgun from a big box store under bad, inexperienced misguided advice. The idea that "smaller is better" could not be further for the truth. Smaller shotguns do not absorb recoil efficiently. very short barrels leaves the athlete at a disadvantage for consistent break performance and before you know it (sometimes in a matter of months) your young athlete has outgrown the "small" shotgun. We often hear, "we saved a lot of $$$ on this one". There too, we find that in both the short and the long run, money was not saved due to improper fit and the need to purchase another gun that fits and will grow with your athlete.  Critical factors to consider when purchasing a shotgun for your youth athlete...  Fit, fit is critical to the physical aspect of their experience. A proper fitting shotgun will reduce the felt recoil more that you think!  Application... There is no one shotgun that is designed to do it all. If the goal is to shoot for the local youth clay target shooting team then get a gun designed for clay targets. Sure they could also use it in the filed but keep in mind, clay target guns tend to have more weight than a field gun to aid in recoil management.  Grow-ability!!! Your young athlete will almost certainly continue to grow, and do so faster than you think. The gun should be able to grow with them.   Weight and barrel length... They need to be able to handle it for 50 to a 100 rounds per outing. Getting back to experience... We tired and explored several so called "youth shotguns" that are on the market today. If you believe a semi-automatic target shotgun should point and balance like a fine double gun with perfect balance and weight distribution, then the L4S is the gun you have been waiting for. The compact stock is designed for the shooter that requires a shorter length of pull, a thinner wrist, and Monte Carlo comb. The magazine is shortened to a four round capacity to reduce the length of the fore-end for improved balance.  The L4S does not have an action spring in the stock and attaches with a simple stock bolt.  This feature allows us to sculpt the pistol grip to eliminate the awkward feeling that affects many semi-auto shotguns.   Because the L4S is designed for 2 ¾” target loads, the action is shorter than guns made to function up to 3 ½” cartridges, further enhancing the handling characteristics.
