Gentlemen and ladies, there’s no need to introduce this popular J-frame from Smith and Wesson, as you’ve heard it all. But—mine for sale here is different. First, I haven’t put more than 50 rounds thru it—and already I can feel the trigger smoothing out. Second, I added high-end grips from Altamont, the premium after-market grip maker. You’ll note they even have the distinctive S&W medallion embedded. Plastic is slippery. Not these bonded ivory beauties; the combo of the satin finish with precise checkering (and beautiful fleur-de-lies) makes it easy maintain a secure, no-twist grip. Third, you get a leather holster for OSB (outside the waistband) carry, right-hand draw, that’s exactly made for the Model 642. It was invisible when I wore a light windbreaker or even an un-tucked flannel shirt.
I recently set up this package as I apply for my CCW permit in California, and I love it. But I’ll be frank--I find it hard to shoot accurately. I’ve got rather small hands, and controlling this .38 Special baby was difficult for me; I’ll have to use my Kimber .45 with 20lpi on the frame. So here it is for *you*, ready to go. Priced at $500 even, it’s a sweet deal.
