Description:
Colt Model of 1911 U.S. Army Pistol, made in 1918 in Hartford, Connecticut. This one is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the left side of the frame. Also on the left side of the frame behind the trigger is the "JMG" inspectors stamp. This stamp is one of the few pistols accepted by JMG (John M. Gilbert). Major John M. Gilbert was the Army Inspector of Ordnance from August 10th 1917 - March 29th 1918. The right side of the slide is marked "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY". The serial number "267868" dates the gun to 1918. The left side of the slide is marked "PATENTED APR. 20, 1897. SEPT. 9, 1902/DEC.19, 1905. FEB.14, 1911. AUG.19, 1913" - "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG.CO./HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." with a rampant colt at the back of the slide. The back of the slide above the hammer is stamped with an "H". The left barrel lug is stamped E" with the barrel hood stamped "HP". The frame around the fire pin safety plunger is marked "H Y G".The double diamond checkered grips are in very nice shape with no chips or cracks. The magazine has a lanyard loop with no visible markings. .45 Auto
