Description:
RYAN & WATSON Antique NAPOLEONIC WARS Era .69 PERCUSSION Conversion Pistol

Late 1700s to Early 1800s British OFFICER’S Pistol

Here we present an antique Napoleonic Wars Era Ryan & Watson Percussion Conversion Pistol, made circa the late 1700s to the early 1800s. This example would have started out life as a flintlock and converted when the more reliable percussion firing system was introduced. The Second British Empire was the empire fighting against Napoleon Bonaparte of France and the dominant power in much of continental Europe at the beginning of the 19th century when this pistol was made. A series of wars, known collectively as the Napoleonic Wars, extended French influence to much of Western Europe and into Poland. At its height in 1812, the French Empire had 130 departments, ruled over 70 million subjects, maintained an extensive military presence in Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Duchy of Warsaw, and counted Prussia and Austria as nominal allies.

The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age. The thinnest of cracks is present on the bottom of the forend near the ramrod and left side of the forend at the cap. Checkered grip. Lock markings are worn. Loose ramrod lug. The percussion cap lid is missing from the back of the grip. Here is a British pistol with lots of history!
