***SOLD*** About as good as they come. Here's a near mint and unrestored, investment grade Winchester Model 1897 Riot pump action hammer shotgun in 12 gauge.
S/N 489598 made in 1910.
Incredible 98%+ original finishes on both metal and wood with only scattered, insignificant handling marks.
The buttstock has a vivid cartouche style stamping near the buttplate containing the letters "ERIE RR" presumably designating it the former property of Erie Railroad, which operated in Northeastern U.S. from 1832-1960.
20" Barrel with correct CYL choke, oversize front sight, and a mirror bore. 2 3/4" Chamber. Original thick composite buttplate.
The mechanics are flawless as well with virtually no wear on the bolt or bolt face.
An amazing and almost humbling example of a 114 year old shotgun that has remained in a state of preservation not unlike the day it was issued. It would be nearly impossible to improve upon this one.
