The Thompson Center Contender is a single-shot, single-action rifle with an exposed hammer. That hammer's unique mechanism contains not one but two firing pins for use with both rimfire and centerfire barrels, allowing for an easy switch between the two. The action is actuated by pressing forward on the curved trigger-guard flare where a hinge pin mates the barrel to the frame, with the only other attachment being the forend bolt, allowing for simple barrel and caliber swaps. This gun comes with two barrels, a .22 Long Rifle Match Grade barrel, and a 7-30 Waters barrel. Each barrel has its own optic, with the .22 having a VX-II Leupold, and the latter having a wide-view Redfield. Both barrels are sold with the firearm as a set.
